Learn to plan your trips the way professionals do.

Several powerful trip-planning tools are available that outdoor enthusiasts of all experience levels can use to step up their game. This three-hour course will give you the skills to create detailed itineraries for any excursion and provide folks at home with a clear plan in case you go missing. We cover:

  • Various platforms, including CalTopo, GAIA GPS, Google Earth, Google Docs, and NOAA Interactive Maps

  • CalTopo’s extensive map creation interface.

  • Determining information remotely, including bearings, slope angle, snow depth and more.

  • Exporting, importing, printing and sharing maps.

  • Organizing data into document for your trip.

This class takes places indoors and requires clients to bring a smartphone. Laptops are available for rent, but you are encouraged to bring your own.
